What this background remover does

The tool uses an AI segmentation model to separate the main subject, such as a person, product, animal or object, from the rest of the photo. Fine edges like hair and fur are preserved where the model can detect them. PNG output keeps real transparency, so you can place the cutout on any background.

Your images stay private

Processing runs in your browser, on your own device. Your image is not uploaded to our servers or stored. The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads the AI model files once from a content delivery network and then caches them. Those downloads contain no part of your image.

Is the background remover free?

Yes. No sign-up is needed and there is no watermark.

Which image formats can I use?

JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 15 MB each.

Why is the first image slow?

The AI model is downloaded the first time you use the tool. Later images are faster because your browser keeps the model. The Fast quality setting uses the smallest model.

Will the result keep my image size?

Images up to 1600 pixels on the longest side keep full detail. Larger photos are processed at a reduced size for speed and browser stability.

Why did the tool miss part of my subject?

Low contrast between the subject and the background can confuse any AI model. Untick Keep main object only, or use the Restore brush to paint missing parts back.

Is the downloaded PNG really transparent?

Yes, when the background is set to Transparent and the format is PNG. Choosing a color, or the JPG format, adds a solid background.

Conversion happens in your browser and keeps text, tables and images but not complex layouts. PDF to Word extracts text only and cannot read scanned PDFs. The first background removal downloads an AI model once, then your browser caches it. Translate PDF uses your browser's built-in translator when it has one; otherwise it sends the extracted text, not the file, to a free translation service. Only unlock PDFs you own or have permission to use.
